International travel is about getting good seats and not worrying about a thing
The Adventure Travel business relies heavily on international airline logistics. Taking the best flights, getting there on time, solving travel delays and dealing with flight changes are all a part of our operation running smoothly. Kevin Martin, of Martin Travel services has been The Guy for this part of our business for years.
Kevin Martin was born in 1961 and grew up in Massachusetts. Kevin and his brother Ray had many hobbies is young kids like tennis, swimming and of course fishing. From the age of 5, Kevin and Ray would go down to the bay and spend all day fishing around the docks for some of the small fish that lived there. As they grew older dock fishing became more sophisticated in the form of the families Boston Whaler where they could chase Stripped Bass and Blue Fish around Cape Cod. After high school Kevin attended college studying computer science. About the time Kevin finished college his dad who was a career dentist decided to retire and start a travel agency and Kevin, computer science degree in hand, took a job in the new family business. Dad’s goal in all of this was to be able to travel more and the travel agency was going to help. It was not long until the two figured out that they were pretty good at this and now the company had help pioneer systems to link travel agents to Airline reservations through computers. Along came corporate travel and the business grew fast. In the beginning they were delivering handwritten airline tickets to corporations for business travel. As technology changed so did the company. 18 years later in 1997 they decided to move to Florida and open up an office in Ft. Lauderdale leaving the big corporate business behind for a better way of life. The model was much the same for the first few years in Florida until Kevin’s dad again decided to retire in 2003. It was at this point that Kevin took over the company, moved it to Ft. Lauderhill (a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale) and decided to downsize the business some. Kevin had been eyeing a different kind of travel for years and when the opportunity arose, he changed the business model to take on a more outdoor and vacation direction. “Booking tickets for people who actually want to go” is a common phrase Kevin uses.
For the last 15 years or so Kevin’s company has been specializing in “Fun Travel” booking hunting and fishing trips, cruises and Island getaways. Kevin is now settled into the Florida way of life. He has two daughters, 21 and 27. He is also a big Harley Davidson fan and is on his 5th bike now since 2011 and his current model is a Trike. Kevin still loves to fish and often hires a charter boat to take him and his friends off the coast for a day on the water. The business now has a crew of three and when you call, you get a real sense of small business and a personal touch. We are happy to call Kevin our partner and very lucky to have him handle airline travel for us. Thanks for everything Kevin and don’t forget to wear your helmet!

Join us for an exciting free get-together on zoom. We are going to discuss our upcoming seasons and events and recap some events and outings we have just finished. The highlight of the night will be our January 2023 season at our centerpiece fishing location in the Amazon jungle.
This August we are finally getting another opportunity to have our Care&Share program put to work. This will be our best chance since the outbreak of COVID to have the opportunity to visit several indigenous villages in the heart of the Amazon Jungle.
Terra Preta is a remote village on Xeruini River, state of Roraima, Brazil.
